Two Finale-Quality Go Rounds.
Riders have two opportunities to post a fast time at the Semi-Finals level, with each go round run to Finale standards. Two chances, two payouts, two paths to Saturday.
Two Finale-quality go rounds, a clearer path to Saturday’s Finale Round, and significantly bigger payouts in both the Open Futurity and Open Derby divisions.
Full details further down.
Two finale-quality go rounds at the BC Semi-Finals. Run one, run both, or sit one out — the choice is yours.
The Semi-Finals run as a 2D format with a six-tenths-of-a-second split. Same format used at the Finale.
The fastest fifteen teams from each Go Round advance to the Saturday Finale.
Each Go Round carries $25,000 in added money. 80% of all entry fees pay back across both Go Rounds.
Pay the $500 to compete for added money and payouts, or skip it and run for the qualification spot only.
When you enter, you must declare which Go Round(s) you're running — Go Round 1, Go Round 2, or both.
Now in its second year, our updated Semi-Finals format returns to the 2026 Breeders Challenge Finale in the Open Futurity and Open Derby divisions.
The format was originally developed in response to feedback from owners, riders and past qualifiers — who asked for an additional Finale qualification round in the Futurity and Derby divisions, plus the opportunity to run at increased payouts at the Semi-Finals level.
Below is an overview of the format — you can read the full details in the General Rules on our website.
Riders have two opportunities to post a fast time at the Semi-Finals level, with each go round run to Finale standards. Two chances, two payouts, two paths to Saturday.
Standard 2D format with a .6 second split, paying ten holes in each division. Same structure across both go rounds.
The top 15 fastest times from each go round advance directly to Saturday’s Finale Round. Two go rounds, thirty riders moving on per division, every run worth the trip.
Twenty-five thousand dollars added to each Semi-Finals go round — $50,000 across both rounds — rewarding speed at every level of the competition before Saturday’s Finale Round.
Eighty percent of all entry fees paid back across the two Semi-Finals go rounds. Direct, transparent, and structured to keep money in the hands of the people running for it.
An optional $500 entry fee gives riders access to the additional Semi-Finals payout pool. The choice is yours — and it’s a real one.
Entrants must designate which round(s) they will run in at the time of entry. Designations are final and cannot be changed once submitted — designate carefully.
It is always our goal to have an open mind regarding feedback and ways we can continue making this program better and more relevant to those owners, riders, trainers and breeders investing in the growth of our industry.
We hope you’ll reach out to our team with any thoughts, ideas, concerns or questions — and more than anything, we look forward to an exciting season of 2026 Qualifiers, Challenge Races and the Finale.
